The National Council for Teacher Education introduced a new regulatory framework in 2014 governing all teacher education programmes across the country. Continuing these reforms, the National Education Policy (2020) recommended a comprehensive restructuring of the teacher education system in line with emerging global trends and developments. The policy aims to integrate teacher education programmes with the evolving structure of the school education system.
